Bill Darby was a friend and supporter to Coach Broyles early in his coaching tenure
when needs were great. Mr. Darby helped establish athletic scholarships for Razorbacks,
as well as academic scholarships in the College of Business Administration. Typical of
his generosity, after noticing their worn and dated uniforms as the Razorback Marching
Band took the field at halftime of a home game, Mr. Darby funded new uniforms and
gave the band a new look. His support of the University was recognized in 1964 with
an Honorary Degree.
His philanthropy gave to the Razorbacks their first athletic dining hall, Darby Hall, in
which meals were served throughout the namy years that all Razorback athletes lived
in Wilson Sharp dormitory. Bill Darby was a Difference Maker for the Razorbacks.
Location: At the base of the scoreboard at the north side of Reynolds Stadium
