Location: The official address for Lakeview Park is 62 Horner Drive, Ottawa, Ontario. This family-oriented community pocket park is located in the Crystal Beach – Lakeview Park – Britannia Village neighbourhood in western Ottawa. There is no official city park sign for the park, either at its main Horner Drive entrance at the intersection of Horner Drive and Aero Drive, or at its back, pedestrian, entrance off Westdale Avenue.
Description: Lakeview Park is roughly trapezoidal, and fairly small, stretching roughly 100 meters along its longest diagonal. It is entirely enclosed inside a ring of homes that front onto the surrounding Corkstown Road, Horner Drive, and Westdale Avenue streets. Two narrow entrances provide the only public access to the park, though several of the surrounding homes have installed gates in their back fences to give them private access to the park.
Despite its small size, Lakeview Park contains a number of facilities that make it valuable to the surrounding community. These include a boarded, lighted ice rink (in season), suitable for hockey, a “mini-soccer field,” swings, several benches and picnic tables, a tire swing, an asphalt basketball court, a children’s play structure, and several internal paths (unmaintained in the winter). The park also contains several small internal treed areas, and has a utility trailer building that provides storage and rink services. Vehicular access is only for park maintenance. There is no public parking available inside the park.
Lakeview Park appears in the City of Ottawa's official database of municipal parks. (See link URL.) It appears, clearly identified as a park in both name and icon, in both Google Earth and Google Maps, with images of both entrances to the park available via the latter’s Street View feature. However, searches for the park in Google Earth and Google Maps currently yield only the general Crystal Beach – Lakeview Park – Britannia Village neighbourhood.
