Location: The official address for Corkstown Park is 61 Corkstown Road, Ottawa, Ontario. This community park is located in the Crystal Bay – Lakeview Park – Britannia Village neighbourhood of western Ottawa. An official city park sign bearing the 61 Corkstown Road address appears at the park’s main entrance in the eastern portion of the park.
Description: Corkstown Park is roughly rectangular, fronting along Corkstown Road, from which it gets its name, tapering somewhat toward the southwest. It is relatively small, stretching less than 200 meters along its longest, northeast to southwest, dimension. The northeast portion of the park contains the Corkstown Pool, an outdoor swimming pool with change facilities, and parking for fewer than 20 vehicles. The southwest portion contains the Crystal Beach Tennis Club with three lighted, fenced tennis courts, and the club house, as well as a small open area. The park also contains a number of smaller mowed lawn areas, with a variety of mature trees that provide shade in the summer.
Corkstown Park serves primarily as the home for the Corkstown Pool and the Crystal Beach Tennis Club, its small size leaving little room for other facilities. There are, for example, no separate picnic facilities or children’s swings or play structures. The open area in the southwest portion of the park is suited to smaller children playing catch, Frisbee, or running games, but is too small for soccer. Corkstown Park includes several paved pathways among its major areas, plus one that crosses the park from the northwest to the southeast, providing an important pedestrian shortcut between Stillwater Drive and Corkstown Road.
