Em 1794 o abade Francisco Xavier Leite Fragoas, pede licença ao Arcebispo D. Frei Caetano Brandão para edificar uma capela, à sua custa, no lugar da Gândara, a 18 Agosto D. Frei Caetano Brandão autoriza o pedido do abade Francisco Fragoas, podendo ele edificar o templo. Em 1798 o templo fica concluido e a 7 de Setembro é benzido.
Em 1969 eatava progamada a sua demolição para a a construção do novo templo, mas felizmente foi impedida.

In 1794 the Abbot Francis Xavier Leite Fragoas, asks permission to Archbishop Frei Caetano Brandão to build a chapel, at his own expense, at the place of Gandarain August 18 D. Frei Caetano Brandão authorizes the request of Abbot Francisco Fragoas, he may build the temple. In 1798 the temple is completed and on September 7th it is blessed.
In 1969 eatava Programmed its demolition for aa construction of the new temple, but fortunately it was prevented.
