Location: The official address for Barry Mullen is 152 Grandview Road, Ottawa, Ontario. This community park is located in the Crystal Bay neighbourhood of western Ottawa. An official city park sign bearing the 152 Grandview Road address appears at the park’s main entrance at the northwest corner of the park, and the park’s utility building also displays the 152.
Description: Barry Mullen Park is relatively long and thin, and fairly small, stretching not much more than 250 meters along its longest, northwest to southeast, dimension. Only the northwest portion is maintained. The southeast portion is wooded. The back of the park is contiguous with a portion of Ottawa’s Greenbelt forest.
Despite its small size, Barry Mullen Park contains a number of facilities that make it valuable to the surrounding community. These include (in season) a boarded, lighted ice rink, suitable for hockey, a ball field, swings, benches and picnic tables, and a children’s play structure. Interestingly, children in the area seem comfortable with leaving their toys in the sand around the play structure. The park also contains a large open area suited to playing catch, Frisbee, or running games, and a utility building for storing equipment, e.g., a snow blower. Barry Mullen Park provides fourteen parking spaces at its Grandview Road entrance.
