[E] Patrick Burgel born September 7, 1946 and died June 4, 2012 was a comedian, writer, radio show host and French imitator. In a book entitled "The House Who Forget Not" he tells a paranormal experience he had with his family when buying a house in Montbazon.
In 1997, Josiane Burgel talk to her husband of a beautiful mansion she has just visit in Montbazon. The owners were absent and went on a trip, Patrick Burgel discovers the house in its entirety from the ramparts of Montbazon. Immediately he feels attracted by the house and the park, but at the same time, he felt a strange feeling, a kind of discomfort as if the house was calling him.
So he decided to buy the property without visiting it. Josiane moves alone in the house, her husband was on filming at the time, so he will discover the house for the first time on his return. The family has been installed for a few days and it is with enthusiasm that they makes him visiting around. The Burgel have found the home of their dreams, but has no idea of the terrible experience that awaits them. What dark secret hidden walls of this house?
One night, Rebecca the second daughter of Burgel is disturbed in his sleep, voices seem to call and seems to wake her up. And suddenly, an unseen force seems attacked her and wants to take possession of his body. The girl never had felt such violence. This is not a nightmare and Rebecca fight with all her might, in the panic she manages to free herself and rushes into the parents' bedroom. She tells that a force wanted to go in and take his physical body on its own terms. Strange phenomena are just beginning.
Patrick's mother, May Burgel came to spend a few days with his son, but the first morning she was awakened by a strange feeling that someone is watching her... A little girl smeared with jam is sitting at the foot of the bed, is it a dream? Ms. Burgel do not believe it because she is awake. The girl mysteriously appears every morning.
Since he lives in this house, Patrick likes to get up early and enjoy the place when everyone is still asleep. That morning, his family will make him strange revelations : Josiane will be drawn from his sleep in turn by a mysterious apparition that will upset her, the presence of a young woman in the room at the foot of the bed. During this time, at the ground floor in the kitchen, Patrick's mother tells her son his vision of the little girl, he does not take it very seriously and tests to reassure her. At this time, Josiane came into the kitchen, and Patrick informed her of the visions of his mother, She reveals to be in the same case, three times already.
Patrick begins to ask questions: The next day, or the day after, it was 23:00, Patrick can not sleep and lights his lamp, his wife is awake, he asks his wife or is the novel that he just bought the same morning, she tells him that it is on the table in the living room. Patrick down the steps of the staircase that leads to the lounge, and when entering it, he is confronted with an extraordinary phenomenon. Taking the book on the table, he noticed sitting in a chair a man wearing a hat, beard eight days looks a distressed look. This vision lasted 2 seconds, but there is more doubt... The house is haunted.
The next day, Patrick begins to inquire in the neighborhood, to older people, the elders of the town. He is talking with one of his neighbors when he learns a terrible tragedy occurred in this property: In 1942, during the occupation the house was requisitioned by the German army to install the headquarters. The SS had learned of the existence of a network that helped the Jews to enter free zone in Montbazon which is located on the border line, so the property would serve as a temporary headquarters. The Cher valley was used by the Germans until November 1942 as a natural border for their line of demarcation between the free zone and the occupied area, and large garnisons settled along the Cher. That same night, the house was ransacked, because the Germans wanted the names of those who helped Jewish families in the area. That evening, a family (a couple with a little girl named Sarah) couldn't be prevented in timewent there. All night the neighbors hear screams. The ghosts of the house, are they those of this family who died during the night?
Patrick can not forget what his neighbor told him, and every night he goes to sit in the living room sofa, hoping to review this sad man sitting in the same place. He is obsessed with his face and identifies more and more with him. In his dreams, he is the one who faces the SS, asked for names, torture, and finaly pushed down the stairs in the cellar.
Since they moved into the house, no one had really explored the cellar which contains a jumble of hétérocliques objects and broken furniture. Patrick decides to go down into the cellar to do some digging. And then there will be an amazing discovery: In an old briefcase, he discovers a menorah: a Jewish candelabrum with seven flames and a Hebrew prayer book. In this book a map, a name (Shlomo Rosinski) and an address in Paris. Later, Patrick went to the address and it is with emotion that he discovers that Shlomo Rosinski is still alive. The old man is upset and recognizes the candlestick, the menorah he had given to his nephew before the war, he said that this menorah is transmitted for centuries in his family, seniors to elder son. He remembers that he had offered the menorah to Simon when he was 13 years old, who had taken his wife and daughter when they tried to enter free zone. After the war Shlomo tried to regain his nephew, but no one had any news since 1942, lost his trace in Montbazon.
When the old man learns that Patrick was raised in the Jewish religion, he gives him the candlestick on one condition: That it lights the candles each Jewish feast for the souls of Simon and his family can find peace and paths of eternity. Over the months, Patrick has not failed in its promise, perhaps that his prayers would help Simon. With hindsight, he realizes that the house had called for this particular mission, a difficult experience that opened his eyes, and made more tolerant. Time passed, and ghosts are becoming rarer, then one day Patrick was certain he had not prayed in vain for the first time since the ghosts appear to him in the garden and seem to move away from home, smiling girl waving goodbye...
He will never saw them anymore.

En 1997, Josiane Burgel parle à son mari d’une magnifique demeure qu’elle vient de visiter à Montbazon. Les propriétaires étant absents et partis en voyage, Patrick Burgel découvre la maison dans sa globalité du haut des remparts de Montbazon. Tout de suite il se sent attiré par la maison et le parc, mais dans le même temps, il ressent une impression bizarre, une sorte de malaise comme si la maison l’appelait.
Il décide donc d’acheter la propriété sans la visiter. Josiane emménage seule dans la maison, son mari étant en tournage à cette époque, il va donc découvrir la demeure pour la première fois à son retour. La famille est installée depuis quelques jours et c’est avec enthousiasme qu’elle lui fait visiter les lieux. Les Burgel ont afin trouvé la maison de leurs rêves, mais ne se doutent pas de l’épreuve terrible qui les attend. Quel lourd secret cache les murs de cette demeure ?
Une nuit, Rebecca la seconde fille des Burgel est perturbée dans son sommeil, des voix semblent l’appeler et semble vouloir la réveiller. Et tout d'un coup, une force invisible semble s’attaquer à elle en voulant prendre possession de son corps et jamais l’adolescente n’avait ressenti une telle violence. Ce n’est pas un cauchemar et Rebecca lutte de toutes ses forces, dans la panique elle parvient à se dégager et se précipite dans la chambre de ses parents. Cette dernière raconte qu’une force à voulu rentrer en elle et prendre son enveloppe charnelle selon ses propres termes. Les phénomènes étranges ne font que commencer.
La mère de Patrick, May Burgel est venu passer quelques jours chez son fils, mais le premier matin elle est réveillée par une étrange sensation, quelqu’un l’observe… Une petite fille barbouillée de confiture est assise au pied du lit, est-ce un rêve ? Mme Burgel ne le croit pas, car elle est bien éveillée. La fillette apparait mystérieusement tous les matins.
Depuis qu’il habite dans cette maison, Patrick est matinal car il aime bien se lever tôt et profiter des lieux quand tout le monde dort encore. Ce matin-là, sa famille va lui faire d’étranges révélations : Josiane va être tirée de son sommeil à son tour, par une mystérieuse apparition qui va la bouleverser, la présence d’une jeune femme dans la chambre au pied du lit. Pendant ce temps-là, au rez-de-chaussée dans la cuisine la mère de Patrick raconte à son fils sa vision de la petite fille, ce dernier ne la prend pas très au sérieux et essaie de la rassurer. A ce moment-là, Josiane entre dans la cuisine, étant informé par son mari des visions de sa mère, cette dernière avoue aussi être dans le même cas, par trois fois déjà.
Patrick commence à se poser des questions : Le lendemain, ou le surlendemain, il est 23h00, Patrick n’arrive pas à dormir et allume sa lampe de chevet, son épouse est aussi éveillée, il demande à sa femme ou est le roman qu’il vient d’acheter le matin même, cette dernière lui indique qu’il est sur la table dans le salon. Patrick descend l’escalier qui le mène au salon, et lorsqu’il y pénètre, il est confronté à un phénomène extraordinaire. En prenant le livre sur la table, il remarque assis dans un fauteuil un homme portant un chapeau, une barbe de huit jours qui le regarde, un regard de détresse. Cette vision dure 2 secondes, mais il n’y a plus de doute… La maison est bien hantée.
Le lendemain, Patrick commence à se renseigner dans le voisinage, à en parler autour de lui, à des gens âgés, des anciens du bourg. C’est en discutant avec l’une de ses voisines qu’il apprend qu’un drame terrible a eu lieu dans cette propriété : En 1942, pendant l’occupation cette maison fut réquisitionnée par l’armée allemande pour y installer la Kommandantur. Les S.S avaient appris l’existence d’un réseau qui aidait les juifs à passer en zone libre, Montbazon étant situé à la frontière de la ligne de démarcation, la propriété servirait donc de PC provisoire. La vallée du Cher fut utilisée par les Allemands jusqu’en Novembre 1942 comme frontière naturelle pour leur ligne de démarcation entre la zone libre et la zone occupée, et d’importantes garnisons s’installèrent le long du Cher. Cette même nuit, la maison fut mise à sac, car les Allemands voulaient les noms de ceux qui avaient aidé des familles juives dans la région. Ce soir-là, une famille (un couple et une petite fille du nom de Sarah) n’a pu être prévenue à temps, toute la nuit les voisins entendront des cris. Les fantômes de la maison, sont-ils ceux de cette famille qui est morte pendant la nuit ?
Patrick ne parvient pas à oublier ce que lui à raconter la voisine, et chaque soir il descend s’asseoir dans le canapé du salon, espérant revoir cet homme triste assis à cette même place. Il est obsédé par son visage et s’identifie de plus en plus à lui. Dans ses rêves, c’est lui-même qui est confronté au S.S, on lui demande des noms, on le torture, puis on le précipite en bas d’un escalier dans la cave.
Depuis qu’ils avaient emménagé dans la maison, personne n’avait vraiment exploré la cave qui recèle un bric à brac d’objets hétérocliques et de meubles cassés. Patrick décide donc de descendre dans la cave pour y faire des fouilles. Et là, il va y faire une découverte étonnante : Dans une vieille mallette, il découvre un ménorah : un candélabre juif à sept flammes et un livre de prière hébraïque. Dans ce livre une carte, un nom (Shlomo Rosinski) et une adresse à Paris. Plus tard, Patrick se rend à l’adresse indiquée et c’est avec émotion qu’il découvre que Shlomo Rosinski est toujours en vie. Le vieillard est bouleversé et reconnait le chandelier, le ménorah qu’il avait offert à son neveu avant la guerre, il raconte que cette menora est transmise depuis des siècles dans sa famille, de fils ainés en fils ainés. Il se souvient qu’il avait offert la menora à Simon lorsque ce dernier avait 13 ans, qui l’avait emporté avec sa femme et sa fille lorsqu’ils ont essayé de passer en zone libre. Après la guerre Shlomo a essayé de retrouver son neveu, mais personne n’avait de nouvelles depuis 1942, on perdait sa trace à Montbazon.
Quand le vieillard apprend que Patrick a été élevé dans la religion juive, il lui donne le chandelier à une condition : Que celui-ci allume les bougies à chaque fête juive pour que les âmes de Simon et sa famille puissent trouver la paix et les chemins de l'éternité.
Patrick Burgel n'a pas failli à son devoir et à son espoir que ses prières aide cette famille à trouver enfin la paix.
Pour Patrick Burgel il ne fait aucun doute que quand il a ressentit que cette maison l'appelé c'était cette famille juive qui l'appelait.
Le temps a passé et les fantômes se sont faits de plus en plus rare.
Un jour, Patrick Burgel voit les fantômes dans le jardin, ils semblent s'éloigner de la maison et la petite fille se retourne pour lui dire en revoir. Il ne les reverra plus jamais.
