The Bissell Bridge was built in 1951 to replace one that had been built in 1881 and on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Bissell Bridge is one of four existing covered bridges built in Massachusetts in the 20th century. It is a two lane covered bridge crossing the Mill Brook. The bridge spans a rocky gorger that is 15 to 20 feet deep. On the north side of the bridge the water cascades over the remnants of a stone dam. The bridge construction is a Long Through Truss bridge spanning 92 feet.
