Located at McClure Avenue and Johnson Avenue, this congregation (not to be confused with the First Free Will Baptist Church across the street) has a history dating all the way back to 1868.

Church History Timeline

"1868 Church originally organized in April as the Bloomingto Baptist Church, met in rented school houses
1868 Covenant written & adopted in August
1883 Church had 29 members (August)
1886 Church rented a school house which stood on the site of what would later be Steele Canning Co.
1889 Church had 115 members
1889 Name changed to Lowell Baptist Church
1910 First property bought with small building at present location
1940 GA's organized
1944 First Vacation Bible School
1946 First full-time pastor hired
1948 WMU organized (Women's Mission group)
1951 Brotherhood organized (Men's Mission group)
1951 Parsonage built (Dedicated October 19,1952
1959 Purchased land & added educational space and fellowship room
1968 Church had 208 members
1971 Church began a radio ministry (March)
1979 Building redecorated after extensive fire damage
1981 Parsonage converted to youth building
1984 Built new auditorium (Seated 250), old auditorium used as Fellowship Hall & class rooms
1990 Hired first paid church secretary (March 15)
1990 Parsonage moved out and office / class room building added in its place
1991 Governor Bill Clinton (elected president Nov. 92) spoke at Lowell FBC and sang in choir
1992 Started mission church at Piney Point
1992 Sponsored Grace Baptist Church in Rogers as a new mission (later on New Hope Rd in Rogers)
1993 Hispanic services began at Lowell FBC (February)
1994 Voted to change official name to First Baptist Church of Lowell (January 16)
1995 Addition to nursery completed (used on March 12)
1995 New auditorium built (seated 500), dedicated October 15, previous auditorium turned into classrooms
1996 Hired full time Music / Youth / Education Minister (September)
1997 Hands of Praise Team began (uses Sign language with white gloves and black lights)
1998 Hispanic congregation disbanded (September)
2000 Youth Choir performed on steps of Capitol Building, Washington D.C.
2001 Awana Clubs, Intl. began meeting at FBC Lowell
2001 First Trunk-or-Treat on Halloween Night (October 31)
2002 Built new Fellowship Hall and new two-story children's building
2003 Remodeled church offices (took the place of old nursery)
2005 Tore down old white building and built new Youth Building in its place
2006 Built gymnasium on SW corner of Jefferson and Madison
2007 Upwards Basketball program began
2009 Hired first paid Children's Director (August 10)"
