At Middleton Place, there is an exhibit area with active working shops used on the plantation. A hand-turned millstone enables visitors to operate a millstone and grind some corn flour.

Middleton Place has an exhibit area where the crafts of of the past are performed to show current day visitors what was needed to keep a plantation working. There is a blacksmith shop, a candle and soap making shop, a textile spinning shop, a carpentry and coopering shop, pottery wheels and a grain milling shop.

At the grain milling area, there are two functioning millstones, where visitors can turn the millstone by hand using a lever and grind some corn into flour.

In addition, there are more old millstones on display nearby.
