Puvodne se šlechtický rod Schwarzenberku zval páni ze Seinsheimu a jejich puvodním znakem byl stríbrne a modre pruhovaný štít. Po dobytí turecké pevnosti Raab v roce 1598 Adolfem ze Schwarzenberku byl v roce 1599 znak doplnen o hlavu Turka, které havran ci krkavec klove oko. Roku 1688 došlo k další úprave erbu, který byl polepšen o symboly dalších panství. Tri cervené špice na stríbrném poli symbolizují panství Sulz, které pripojil k panství Ferdinand ze Schwarzenberku snatkem s Marií Annou ze Sulzu. Horící vetev znací panství Brandis. V srdecním štítu erbu jsou znaky panství Schwarzenberg - vež na cerné hore a Kleggau - tri zlaté snopy.

Schwarzenberg family was originally called the Lords of Seinsheim and their CoA was the silver and blue striped shield. After the capture of the Turkish fortress of Raab in 1598 by Adolf Schwarzenberg in 1599 CoA was improved by head of a Turk and a raven pecking his eye. In 1688 there was another modification coat of arms, which was improved by the symbols of other estates. Three red spikes on a green field symbolize estate Sulz, which Ferdinand of Schwarzenberg recivedd after marriage to Maria Anna von Schultz. Burning branch indicates the domain Brandis. In the heart shield coat of arms are signs of Schwarzenberg estates - a tower on Black Mountain and Kleggau - three golden sheaves.
