The church land and materials for what was the first Roman Catholic Church in W.A. (The Church of the Immaculate Conception )were donated by Thomas Little in 1852 to Dr Serra for construction of a church and monastery. Building began in 1854 and the first service occured in 1857,the building was in use until 1938 when due to a lack of room for the parishioners a new church was constructed next door.
The building which is built of stone is an example of the Colonial Gothic style of architecture . The original shingles of the timber roof have been replaced with corrugated metal sheets.
In 1979 extensive restoration works were carried out and the
building was re-dedicated as Thomas Little Memorial Hall.
