Mountain Lake Park is home to about 2,000 residents as of the 2010 census. The town was once known as a summer resort in the late 1800s that dissolved in 1921, before the town was incorporated in 1931. Today the town is mainly preserved as a historic district as this status was placed to the national register in 1983.
