The depicted stone neo-Gothic Crucifixion is located in close proximity of parish Church of Assumption of Virgin Mary (Kostel Nananebevzetí Panny Marie) in historic centre of town Nový Jicín.
The sandstone Crucifixion, erected here in 1864, stands on high octagonal pedestal with slender octagonal truncated pyramidal attachment. The cross has concave bent beams with lily-shape endings. The statically expressed Christ's body is almost in life-size. On the pedestal' back side is inscription: "CARL / BERGER / BILDH.".
Baroque parish Church of Assumption of Virgin Mary, the main Roman Catholic church of Nový Jicín, is also thanks its history, position and size the town's principal landmark.
