Proper Description:
"A full-length standing bronze figure of Lincoln set against a sculptured limestone wall panel. Lincoln holds a stick in his right hand. The wall relief is composed of several rectangular blocks and depicts the profiles of three adults and two children walking with an ox-driven covered wagon. An angel flies above the group looking back at them." ~ Smithsonian American Art Museum

North side of Illinois Hwy 33, Just off the west end of the Lincoln Memorial Bridge to Vincennes, Indiana 10 miles east of Lawrenceville Westport, Illinois Date should be June 14, 1938; Rededicated Oct. 8, 1988


DIFFERENCES NOTED BETWEEN THE INVENTORY LISTING AND YOUR OBSERVATIONS AND RESEARCH:
Listed as in Lawrenceville, but is actually 10 miles E. of Lawrenceville. I could find nothing on the bronze base for cast statue, it is very thin and sits on a marble intermediary base which is on a concrete foundation base. (see photos) The sig. of N.V. WALKER, Sc. is on the thin middle marble base.
