In Newton, off Commonwealth Avenue, is the Newton City Hall.

The building is location along Commonwealth Avenue, in a plot of land bounded by Commonwealth Avenue, Homer Street, and Walnut Street.

The building is a large brick building with a cupola near the center. There are two and a half floors, with windows on each floor and a peaked shingled roof. There are two cupolas. The main cupola is a white, eight sided structure. A clock is in the brick part, below the cupola.

City Hall is the center of business for the city.

The city has about 80,000 residents. It was settled in 1630, making it one of the oldest cities in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Boston College is partly located in Newton. Mt. Ida and Lasalle Colleges are also in Newton. Newton has 13 distinct villages to it, including Newton Centre, Newton Highlands, West Newton, Auburndale, Newton Upper Falls, and Waban. It is a fairly dense community.

Several are on the property. A wing of the building is a war memorial. There is also a POW-MIA memorial by a driveway circle. There is an engraved brick walkway, too.
