Being in a residential neighbourhood, the church, naturally, also counts in their congregation members of the community not affiliated with the university. Organized early in 1960, the parish held mass in the Montana State University Music Recital Hall until this building was completed in January of 1966.
A relatively contemporary and avant garde appearing building, the church is topped with a very imaginative steeple. It takes the form of a truncated obelisk, with a trio of crosses replacing the missing upper portion of the obelisk.
