Location: The official address for Westcliffe Park is 681 Seyton Drive, Ottawa, Ontario. The park stretches roughly 400 meters, northwest to southeast, along its greatest dimension. Seyton Drive curiously takes roughly the form of the digit ‘9,’ with Westcliffe Park occupying the center portion of the closed oval at the top of the digit. The park lies toward the southwest side of the Bells Corners neighbourhood of Ottawa, Ontario. Bells Corners is a small, largely residential, community, formerly part of the City of Nepean before it was annexed by the City of Ottawa. Bells Corners is entirely surrounded by the City of Ottawa's Greenbelt.
Description: Westcliffe Park is one of the larger parks in Bells Corners. It derives its name from the adjacent Westcliffe Estates development within Bells Corners. Given the closed loop that Seyton Drive makes, Westcliffe Park both fronts and backs onto Seyton Drive. A French-Catholic high school, Franco-Ouest, occupies the southern portion of that same loop, and the boundary between the two is not always clear. The northern portion of the loop is residential, with the residents making good use of the park.
Westcliffe Park facilities include a community center and parking lot, a running track, two soccer fields, children’s play structures, swings, and benches. At the time of submitting this description, there were no external picnic facilities. In the winter, the park provides a boarded ice-rink suited for both recreational skating and hockey. Because of its size, Westcliffe Park contains several internal paths, mostly paved. Given the elevation changes within the park, it has concrete stairways, with wheelchair access provided via longer sloping paths, if rather less directly.
Westcliffe Park appears in the City of Ottawa's official database of municipal parks, and is searchable on Google Earth, and Google Maps, with images of the park’s entrance at its address and some other park views available via the latter’s Street View feature.
