Tarana today has a population of less than 200 however in its earlier years about 2000 people lived in & around the town. The railway was the catalyst for an increase in the population & modern roads & vehicles the opposite. Today it attracts the traveller with a caravan park & old fashioned pub.
The church has stood up well to the years with a colourbond roof ensuring there is no water ingress. A service is held every 3rd Sunday when the minister from Oberon visits.
Despite its age it's not listed for heritage protection.
