Location: George Wilson Park is located at 9 Virgil Road, in the Bells Corners neighbourhood of Ottawa, Ontario. Located just north of the center of Bells Corners, it is immediately adjacent to Bells Corners Public School. Public access to George Wilson Park is via an asphalt walkway in an opening between two residences on Virgil Road. A sign at the park’s official address indicates the presence of the park, which is not readily apparent from Virgil Road. Bells Corners itself is a small community, formerly part of the City of Nepean before Nepean was annexed by the City of Ottawa; it is entirely surrounded by the City of Ottawa's Greenbelt.
Description: Roughly 100 meters along its greatest dimension, George Wilson Park serves primarily as a local playground park for local Bells Corners residents, and an extension of the playground area for Bells Corners Public School (elementary), with little in the way of obvious boundary separation between the two. The park is spare, offering, together with the adjacent schoolyard, a large outdoor sand play area, simple play structures, a ball field with a backstop, and a soccer field. The terrain is flat, and the landscaping consists mainly of low-maintenance lawn and sand.
