The episode deals with the scandal of the death of Crown Prince Rudolph of Austria Hungary in 1889. The Prince is found dead at the imperial hunting lodge at Mayerling, along with his 17 year old mistress, Marie Vetsera. The Emperor Franz Josef are left to cover up the scandal.
