B-26 Martin Marauder "Silver Streaks"

Dedicated to the memory of the 344th Bombardment Group (Medium) AAF "Silver Streaks" and its members who died with honor.

Presented on 5 October, 1993 by members of the 344th Bomb Group Association, assigned "Drane Filed", Lakeland, Fl, December 1942-January 1944.

The 344th Bomb Group led the Ninth Air Force into action on D-Day, striking gun placements on Cherbourg Peninsula, just 21 minutes ahead of landing craft.
