This zinc headstone marks the grave of Mary Eckerlen, who died in 1890 at age 31. According to the marker, she was born in Alsace-Lorraine, which at the time was a German-controlled territory annexed from France during the Franco-Prussian War. The inscription on the side of the marker (listed below) is an excerpt from the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow poem "Remembrance." Opposite panels feature a cross and a bouquet of flowers.
