Location: Arbeatha Park is a small park in the Bells Corners neighbourhood of Ottawa. It is located on the north side of Arbeatha Street, a street that is one block long, running between Sycamore Drive on its east end, and Arnold Drive on its west end. Arbeatha Park is near the street's eastern/Sycamore end. In terms of the homes there, it's directly across from 102 Arbeatha Street through 106 Arbeatha Street.
History: The park is named for the street it fronts on. It was originally a park in the city of Nepean, Ontario, and dates to the development of the area in the late 1950s. Ottawa realtors use Arbeatha Park as the designation for the neighbourhood, and the park appears prominently on the realtors' maps. When the City of Ottawa annexed Nepean, it did not provide signage for the park, so there's no sign there to identify it. Nonetheless the park is well-known to residents of the area, and is a searchable location in Google Earth and Google Maps. The park also appears on Street View.
Description: The park is a tiny bit of green space within Bells Corners, a community that is itself enclosed within Ottawa's Greenbelt. It features a paved path that enters the park at the posted coordinates, a minuscule bit of urban forest, and play structures suited to younger children. The City of Ottawa maintains the path and the play structures, mows the lawn, collects the trash from the park's one receptacle, and posts a variety of restrictions. In the winter, there is sometimes a small ice-skating rink created by flooding the ground. For some reason, this actively discourages the growth of dandelions during the succeeding summer.
