Many: The text on 3 sides of the monument are NOT on the listing. (Please see text above). Proper description is off a bit. There are three steps leading to the statue, but the statue does not rest upon them. Relief art on column: (proper front) is an eagle holding the Medal of Honor (Brevet Medal) in its claws; on the (proper right) is a mourning bunting above the text with the crossed sabers below; on the (proper left) is the mourning bunting above the text with crossed cannons and a stack of cannon balls below; on the (proper rear) has the mourning bunting above the text with field stack muskets intertwined with crossed flags below. For the text on each side please see above & photos in the gallery It appears as if the steps and very bottom base are concrete, but the column and stepped base are stone.
