In Needham, within the Needham Cemetery, is this grave for a centenarian by the name of Mabel R. Case.

The grave is located in the center of the cemetery. There are entrances from Parish Road and Nehoiden Street. The grave is near the top of the highest part of the cemetery and about 100 ft from the Civil War monument (three cannons are arranged in a tripod supporting a fourth). It is at the end of a pulloff there.

The grave is a stone marker gray in color, about 3 ft in height. The text is as follows:

"Ralph E. Bailey
1894 - 1954
His wife
Mabel R. Case
1885 - 1986"

I could not find any information specifically about Mabel or Ralph. One of their sons, Andrew, had passed on January 2014, at 92.

Here are some historical events that occurred on these years:

1885
2/18 - Mark Twain publishes "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn"
2/21 - Washington Monument in Washington, DC dedicated
3/4 - Grover Cleveland inaugurated as President of the United States of America
4/30 - Boston Pops Orchestra formed.
7/17 - Statue of Liberty arrived in NYC aboard French ship `Isere.' Money is raised for the pedestal.

1986
1/26 - Super Bowl XX: Chicago Bears beat NE Patriots, 46-10 in New Orleans Super Bowl MVP: Richard Dent, Chicago, DE [Most of New England would rather not remember this, however...]
1/28 - 25th Space Shuttle (51L)-Challenger 10 explodes 73 sec after liftoff [Most of the nation would rather not remember this...]
4/11 - Halley's Comet makes closest approach to Earth this trip, 63 M km
