VZ-16 is a Maine Department of Transportation Horizontal Control Point located along State Street(U.S. Route 2) in Veazie, Maine. It was monumented in 1982. The Station is a standard traverse rod and once had an aluminum disk screwed to the top stamped "VZ-16 1982". It appears the disk has been broken off and is missing. This could be due to vandalism, a winter plow truck clearing the space around the hydrant or driveway, or due to another reason. At some point it appears the rod was protected by the installation of a small cast iron cover. The control point is located between a fire hydrant and utility pole in front of the business "Johnson Memorial Co". The utility pole is considered a witness post and has a sign indicating so, plus an aluminum nail driven in it for reference purposes. Please see that photos and the datasheet description.
