The Art Centre of the Palacký University in Olomouc is housed in a vast Baroque complex of the former Jesuit Convent called "Konvikt".
The "Konvikt" served for the accommodation of noble university students. The early Baroque core of the large building complex, the so-called "Old Konvikt" in its southern part, consisted of a three-winged building in the shape of the letter F, built during the years 1661-1668 according to the design of the Olomouc architect Petr Schiller. After 1672 a north wing with a coach house was attached to it, through which the old plan was modified to a letter E. During the years 1721-1724 a three-winged two-storey building of the Baroque New Convict was attached to the "Old Konvikt" with a central chapel of Corpus Christi, which continued to the north in the adjacent school building. The building was carried out by the Olomouc builder Wolfgang Reich; Jan Jakub Kniebandl participated in the building of the chapel. In 1728 Johann Christoph Handke painted the Corpus Christi Chapel with frescoes. The medieval so-called Jewish City Gate is preserved at the rear of the site.
