This 15 metre tall mollusc sculpture was inspired by fossils that have been found nearby here.

The town of Chesterfield has a policy of encouraging public art, especially at new development sites. link

At this location an old industrial factory was demolished and replaced with a housing development.

An open area was retained, grassed over and this sculpture erected. Nearby to here can be found many mollusc fossils and Liz Lemon the sculptor partly took this as her inspiration. She designed it in metal to also reflect the industrial heritage of the site.

A plaque at the site has the following information
Artist Liz Lemon
Commissioned by : Shepherd Homes Ltd, as part of Chesterfield Borough
Council's Percent fpr Art Policy.
