In Needham, within the Needham Cemetery, is an American Revolutionary War Veteran grave for Josiah Eaton.
The grave is located in the oldest section, on the south side of the cemetery, near Nehoiden Street. The best place to park is at the small lot by the administration office, along the driveway from the east or west entrance from Nehoiden Street.
The grave stone is about 5 ft tall and is made of marble, though the surface has darkened. The side facing west has the following text:
"EATON
Josiah Eaton
Died April 28,1796 Et 86
Sarah Day
his wife
Died May 2,1805 Et 87
Their Children
Silent
Died Aug.4, 1821 Et 77
William
Jan. 11, 1839 Et 84
Sarah Kingsbury
his wife
Died Dec. 28, 1819 Et 75
..."
The rest are children of their son, William.
I could not find out any more details about this person and how he served.
