Redfern railway station is location 1.3 kilometres south of the main Central railway station. It has 12 platforms (two underground) servicing most of the city and country train lines that pass through Sydney.
The original station (Eveleigh) was constructed in 1876, but was relocated to its current position nine years later. In the 1970s the two underground platforms were constructed.
The station services the nearby University of Sydney and Australian Technology Park, and according to Wikipedia it is the seventh most used railway station is Sydney servicing more than 22,000 customers on a regular weekday.
