This red telephone box is now a free book exchange.
It is an initiative of the "Movimento Comerciantes Avenida Guerra Junqueiro, Praça de Londres e Avenida de Roma" (association of merchants of the near avenues), with the support of Portugal Telecom Foundation, that aims to promote reading and community ties through the reuse of an old telephone booth as a "self-service" library on Praça de Londres (London Square), in Lisbon.
The library was inaugurated on April 23, 2014 - World Book and Copyright Day.
On the outside one can read:

Levar, doar, ler, devolver
"Leve este livro para onde quiser durante o tempo necessário. Cuide bem dele. Não escreva, não rabisque, não use marcadores de texto. Para que a próxima pessoa a lê-lo tenha uma leitura tão agradável como a sua. Depois de ler, devolva-o."
Which translates to:
Reading Phone Booth
Take, give, read, return
"Take this book wherever you want as long as necessary. Cherish it. Do not write, do not scribble, do not use highlighters. So that the next person reading it has a reading as nice as yours. After reading, return it."
