This is a joint memorial for husband and wife centenarians, Patrick and Isabel Makeever. They are buried in the Sayler Makeever Cemetery, Newton Township, Jasper County, Indiana. Otherwise known as the Old Settlers Cemetery, this cemetery contains the mortal remains of some of Jasper County, Indiana's oldest residents. The date of establishment is listed as 1838, on the cemetery sign, at the end of the dirt road leading to the cemetery. There are less than 100 headstones, in this cemetery, most are broken, and weather worn. The oldest marker we saw was from about 1818. According to Find A Grave (visit link) there are only 2 burials listed.

Although this cemetery is close to the city of Rennselaer, it is near the Jasper County Airport, it is outside of the city limits, and is actually in Newton township, not Marion township, that Rennselaer is located in.

Rensselaer is a city located along the Iroquois River in Marion Township, Jasper County, Indiana, United States. According to Wikipedia, (visit link) the population was 5,859 at the 2010 census. The city is the county seat of Jasper County. Rensselaer is home to Saint Joseph's College of Indiana.
