Hier steht überdacht der Gauß-Stein der auf einem für die
Landvermessung in Nordwestdeutschland relevanten Dangaster
Messpunkt steht.
Der ursprüngliche Standort ist durch eine Plakette in der
Strasse markiert.
Dangast als astronomische Station: eine Informationstafel am
städtischen Campingplatz weist auf die 1866 erfolgten
Messungen zur Erforschung der Erdgestalt hin.
DM-Freunde werden sich an den 10-Mark-Schein entsinnen,der diese
Information (inkl. Dangast) beeinhaltete.(s.a. Gaus´scher Punkt)
