St John the Baptist Church was built in 1963 to replace the century old church across the road. The present church is in the Catholic Church Precinct which also includes the Sisters of Mercy Convent (1860's) , a two storey building used for the sisters and girl boarders (1903) and an adjacent two storey building used for classrooms and boys dormitaries (1910)
