The shelter depicts the southwestern pueblo style using natural materials. There are mosaics in the adobe wall showing saguaros, summer lightning storms and a pueblo community. Blue and green mosaics show the flow of water from the summer rains. The ramada is supported by wooden poles, called vigas, and green metal poles that represent Ocotillo stems.
There are various types of cacti in the landscaping surrounding the shelter.
