As the plaque reads:
Territorial Grain Growers Association/ L'Association Terrirtoriale Des Producteurs de Cereales
The founding convention of the Territorial Grain Growers Association, the first successful farm organization in Western Canada, took place at Indian Head on 12 February 1902. Inadequate grain shipping and marketing arrangements had fostered a protest meeting here on 18 December 1901 under leadership of WR Motherwell, John Millar and others, which sparked a movement for an independent farmers organization. Co-operatives enterprise in every aspect of agricultural and commercial marketing in the West evolved from this pioneer association.
