Nowadays it is a bed and breakfast kind of business. At least part of the old plantation, namely the former house of the owner. There are more buildings around but being used to several purposes.
In the past it was one of the successful Portuguese plantations, mostly dedicated to the production of cocoa. After all, in the early 20th Century this small country was the World's largest producer of cocoa.
A night in this place is highly recommended to any traveler visiting the island. It's like a live museum, a trip back in time. The furniture is the original, and most of the house is kept as it was during the Golden Age of the island.
