"Women's imorvement club estab and named this park Glenbower 1912 changed to Martin Park in 1926 by CH Gwynn. On July 1, 1859, dep tax collector Geo W. Martin and Sheriff Geo C Johnson and dep sheriff WM Crutcher pursued rattlesnake Dick Barter and another deperado to this location. A gunfight ensued and Martin was shot and killed here. Rattlesnake Dick's body was found the next morning a mile away."
