As part of the restoration of Reed College Canyon, a fish ladder was installed in Fall 2001. Reed Lake was created around 1900 due to the construction of a 10 foot high dam across Reed Creek, which blocked the passage of fish. In the Fall of 2001, a fish ladder was completed to re-establish a route for fish to navigate into the upper reaches of Reed Lake for the first time in 85 years.
