This fundamental bench mark was used during the Second geodetic levelling, England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 800.0340 feet [243.8504 metres] above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). It was included on the Boscastle to Grampound and Torrington to Boscastle levelling lines.

Third Geodetic Levelling, England & Wales (1950-68) -
This fundamental bench mark was used during the Third geodetic levelling, England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 800.0340 feet [243.8504 metres] above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). It was included on the Boscastle to Liskeard, Boscastle to Torrington and Troon to Boscastle levelling lines."
