Mair - Terminal 'E' Ticketing Hall, (Public Area) Logan International Airport - Boston.
The Silhouette public art sculpture, comprises of two huge identical sheets approximately 60 feet long x 20 feet wide spaced about 30 feet apart hanging from the ceiling. Each sheet has the same pattern of curved lines radiating from a central circle.
When viewed from a distance, there is an optical effect called an interference pattern, or Moiré Effect, as you move in any direction the pattern changes significantly.
From Wikipedia:
"In physics, mathematics, and art, a moiré pattern is a secondary and visually evident superimposed pattern created, for example, when two identical (usually transparent) patterns on a flat or curved surface (such as closely spaced straight lines drawn radiating from a point or taking the form of a grid) are overlaid while displaced or rotated a small amount from one another."
