When originally built the first floor has 2 retail spaces and the upper floors were function halls. In 1914 the building was converted to commercial space. The building is significant in a representation of Worcester's development and it's connection with the Swedish community. In 1903 Charles Hanson purchased the land for the Thule Building, on behalf of a group known as the the Thule Music Hall Association. Charles Hanson was noted as being the first Swede to settle in Worcester. The building was designed by Worcester architect George H Clemence. In 1914 the building was sold to the McDermott Brothers. For 60 years the building was occupied by the furniture company Summerfield's Furniture and Burwick Furniture Company. In 1969 the building was acquired by Palson's Inc, seller of office furniture and supplies. In 2006 Palson's added a printing business. The building was sold again in 2008 to 184 Main St Associates. The printing business is still performed by Alpha Graphics. The upper floors are occupied by the Worcester Law Library.
