Former US Presidents Carter and Clinton reveal Dylan Thomas as their favourite poet.
The glowing tribute comes as Swansea's Dylan Thomas Centre celebrates its 10th anniversary.
Jimmy Carter, who opened the Centre in 1995, has written to Swansea Council to express his admiration for Dylan Thomas.
He said, "Dylan Thomas is my favourite of all poets, and I have a personal collection of more than three dozen books by and about him.
"Also, I have been able to visit Swansea to gain a more intimate awareness of the source of much of his inspiration."
The former President also congratulated Swansea Council for making its entire Dylan Thomas collection available on-line as part of the Centre's 10th anniversary celebrations.
He said, "I am pleased to add my best wishes and gratitude as the Dylan Thomas Centre in Swansea makes available on-line the entire collection of manuscripts and other memorabilia of this remarkable poet.
"With this new expansion, I trust that his wonderful work will now be a pleasure and inspiration to many thousands of people who might otherwise not have been blessed with such easy access to his legacy."
Jimmy Carter is the second former US President to hail Dylan Thomas. Bill Clinton is also a fan of the Swansea-born poet and he told the Hay Literature Festival that Welsh people were "lucky to have Dylan as your poet". Text Source: (

"Thomas died on November 9, 1953 while on a lecture tour of America. He had been drinking heavily the night he died in the White Horse pub in Greenwich Village, New York. Later that evening he returned to his hotel room in great pain and summonsed a doctor. Unfortunately the doctor (Dr Feltenstein) administered an abnormally large dose of morphine sulphate and Thomas slipped into a coma. Thomas' last words were: "I've had 18 straight whiskies......I think that's the record." He was 39 years old. His body was brought back to Laugharne.
Thomas and Caitlin lived at The Boathouse in Laugharne in Wales from 1949 onwards after it was purchased for them by Margaret Taylor (the wife of the historian A.J.P. Taylor). However, Thomas used to write in a wooden garage which stood on the cliff edge a short distance from the house. The garage, which is still there today, overlooks the beautiful Taf estuary."
