This bridge links the Omaha, NE riverfront on the west to Friendship Park in Council Bluffs, IA on the east. Just to the south is the I-480 bridge which carries automobile traffic.
The bridge was funded in 2000 (lead by Sen. Kerrey), and ground was broken in 2006. The bridge was dedicated in 2008. It runs 3000 ft long, and carries pedestrian and bicycle traffic between the the trail systems on both riverfronts.
There are no facilities specifically part of the bridge, but a number of statues, a giant vending machine and the National Park Service's visitor center are nearby.
