When Rotary Park was voted into existence on January 28, 1922, part of the plan proposed by the Rotarians was to include a swimming pool. Given that there is no sign of a pool in the park, we wonder if it ever came to fruition. In any event, the Rotarians, in more recent years, took it upon themselves to add to the playground with this spray park. It replaced a wading pool that once occupied the site.

The rotary plaque at the spray park indicates that it was erected in 2005, the year of the Centennial of the City of Cranbrook. This was one of two major Rotary projects celebrating Cranbrook's 100th birthday, the other, by Sunrise Rotary, being the field house at Moir Centennial Park.
