This small sculpture depicts a rodeo rider atop a horse with just one hoof left on the ground.
The Museum placards explain:

"Harry Jackson
American, born 1924

TWO CHAMPS
1978
Bronze
Funds from the Contemporary Realism Group, 2002.77"

and

"Of the six splaying legs in this sculpture, only one connects to the ground. Harry Jackson emphasized the precariousness of the moment with the unusually small base (which he molded from a coffee can). This sculpture is a portrait of a horse Old Steamboat and rider Clayton Danks, who won the world championship at the Cheyenne Frontier Days rodeo a century ago."

So, this sculpture is so unusual with three hooves raised that there is no such selection available in the drop down box below...so, ignore the two hooves raised in that box.
Identity of Rider: Clayton Danks

Identity of Horse: Old Steamboat

Name of artist: Harry Jackson

Date of Dedication: 1978

Material: Bronze

Unusual Features: 3 hooves raised

Position: Two Hooves Raised
