Špilberk Municipal Park with area of 17 hectares is the most significant park of Brno founded by the city administration and together with Špilberk Castle it is declared a National Cultural Heritage. Major Christian d'Elvert gave impulse to the establishment ot a scenic park in romantic style in 1861. Establishment of the park was provided by an artistic gardener Antonín Šebánek following his own project under the supervision of Karel Offermann, director of Luránky and Františkov Estate Gardens. Promenades with alleys and lookout places, scenic plants and three plantings and garden buildings were basis of the park composition. The park is under complete renovation at the moment.
