This ghost sign along the US 62/83 near downtown Paducah is well faded by the sun, but can still be read:
"Coca Cola
Every
Bottle
Sterilized"
It must have been an important selling point in the Upton Sinclair "The Jungle" era -- especially as the company transitioned folks away from Coca Cola in drugstores to Coca Cola in bottles in the grocery store. This sign dates from the 1920s, when "Every Bottle Sterilized" was one of the Coca-Cola advertising slogans.

"This Mobile, Alabama, Coca Cola Bottling Co. 1930 Mack Model BG was photographed on March 13, 1930, in front of the facility. It is interesting to note that Coke Cola was advertising “Every Bottle Sterilized” on the signage above the bed at the time to make the public feel safe about drinking its product."
