This Southern Red Oak (Quercus falcata) is dedicated to Dr. Leslie Lynn Sherrod who was a long-time instructor of Plant Biology and former Dean of the College of Sciences and Mathematics at The University of Texas at Tyler. Dr. Sherrod had several students go through his courses and so it is fitting to honor his contributions to the University with one of his favorite trees.
