These panels celebrate the importance of daring. The artist focuses on Icarus...a hero, youthful and exuberant. When he has his first moments of flying free of his father and his isolated life, he soars, rushing to experience his joy. His wings are melted as he is burned by the sun and he crashes into the sea. He is in pieces, but his spirit is not broken. He has suffered, but he is beautiful, glowing with radiance that can only come from experiencing the possibility of rapture in his own life.
